Life at St. Gregory's

St. Gregory continued giving much support in adolescent’s education, as they made sure that students’ Christian education spanned from elementary until high school. In their program they had included a Christian grammar school, a highschool, and a school for deaf children, which was the first Catholic Deaf school in the entire country. The Priests and Sisters also contributed to extra curricular activities; their goal was to make sure students learned from spiritual, academic, and cultural lenses.

The Parish cherishes the notion that leisure and recreation are fundamental to the well-being of the “Parish family.” With a commitment to fostering a vibrant community spirit, a weekly schedule brimming with various activities is thoughtfully curated and prominently displayed on the bulletin board, as well as published in the parish newsletter. These activities, designed to cater to a broad spectrum of interests and age groups, range from joyous festivals that bring the community together, to educational opportunities like Drivers Education, to character-building programs such as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Additionally, the Parish offers engaging activities like bowling and BINGO nights, ensuring that there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Take a look at the Gregorian throughout time! Featured are issues from 1932, 1938, 1977, 1989, and 1991. The Gregorian newsletter serves as a historical document; providing monthly insights into the community activities, religious practices, and communal concerns of the parish. These newsletters offer a unique look into the parish community and its impacts on the larger Chicagoland.
