Life at St. Ita's
Ever since it's upbringing in 1900, Saint Ita's Parish has been blessed with rich and diverse culture. The Parish was known as a temporary or permanent home to its members in the community, regardless of age, economic level, and culture. In 1904, the Parish opened its basement doors as an educational facility, alongside the Sunday Service classes for kids. Saint Ita's Parish was seen as a home in the community, ignoring all imperfections and opinions from parish-goers but rather embracing each other's love for the Church and Catholicism.
Saint Ita's hosted many fundraising events to help expand their Church and bring in more parish-goers. Their fundraisers also allowed the Church to connect with the local community members and businesses in the area.
Saint Ita Parish had a church bulletin, named The Chimes. The Chimes ran from 1956-2012, and featured different events, advertisements, and masses that the church offered.
In 1954, parishioners were sent a notice from Rev. Gerard C. Picard, stating that Saint Ita was expanding to make more school space for the children enrolled. The Parish sent this letter also informing of a fundraising drive, to help raise money for the project to be completed.
The school of Saint Ita had many students, as well as many sporting/club events. Some of these events included football, cheerleading, and basketball.
